There are six different questions types of IELTS listening and on test day it can get pretty intense because you only get one chance. So in ielts listening you get 30 minutes to complete 40 questions and there are 4 sections. Each section have 10 questions.
You would be listening to Listening audio on a headset or a speaker system. It depends on the local centre. It’s good to plan to get use to either of them. You can even ask around to check what is the practice in the city where you are planning to give the test. And accordingly, opt for headset or speakers right from the first day of your preparations.

You’ll hear two people speaking in an everyday social context.

You’ll hear 2-3 people having a conversation in an educational context.

Example: architecture, biology, or other topic
You’ll hear one person speaking on academic topic
